A day after alleged corruption in the upcoming Commonwealth Games 2020' organisation surfaced, the Central Government has reportedly decided to step-in.

"There will be a monitoring mechanism on workings of Commonwealth Games Organising Committee. The CWG's United Kingdom money trail will be monitored," a Times Now report quoted sources as stating on Saturday.

The Cabinet secretary is likely to set up a team to look into the complaints and preparations of the Commonwealth Games scheduled in New Delhi from October 3-14 this year, it added.

On Friday, Times Now channel had highlighted how a substantial sum of money was transferred to a little known UK company from the Commonwealth Games Organising Committee (OC).

The British Government has also raised questions about the alleged money-transfer for the U.K.-based company by the Games' Organising Committee (OC).

Over 4.50 lakh pounds were allegedly transferred through a British bank to the AM Films company, said to be a one man show, which was also receiving 25,000 pounds a month.

The TV channel quoted documents to show that the entire deal came to light when the OC asked for a VAT refund of 14,000 pounds in March this year for the payments made to the British company.

The OC is reported to have made a payment of nearly 2.5 lakh pounds for video equipment purchase while A M Films has claimed that it provided services of car hire, makeshift toilets, barriers and electricity.

Enforcement Directorate sources in Delhi said the agency was probing the issue. The company was involved in the arrangements for the Queen's Baton Relay when it started its journey from London with a function outside the Buckingham Palace, the report further added. (ANI)
